Suspects arrested after fleeing police in stolen cars

Two people were arrested in Sturgis early Thursday after they had fled the area in stolen cars.

According to a department media release, state police troopers were called to investigate a car that had crashed into a building in the 1300 block of East Chicago Road. From that location, two cars were stolen but both drivers were eventually arrested.

The first vehicle was recovered just outside of Sturgis and a male suspect was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the second stolen vehicle was recovered in the 1800 block of South Centerville Road. The suspect, however, stole another vehicle in the vicinity but was later found and the driver arrested in the Burr Oak area.

All three stolen vehicles were returned to their owners.
