Michigan Department of Transportation has awarded a six-figure grant to the city of Three Rivers for a future road-construction project.
MDOT officials said the $375,000 allocation, awarded through the state’s Transportation Economic Development Fund, is earmarked for work to be performed in 2023 on Broadway Street. The city will put up $600,000 toward the impending project, which will involve reconstruction between Constantine Street and Main Street.
The state recognized Broadway as a critical route between M-86 and U.S. 131, which minimizes the number of trucks in the city’s downtown district.
Three Rivers was one of nine municipalities to receive such funding.
