Man ticketed in Elkhart County crash

A Three Rivers man was cited for his role in a three-vehicle crash last week in Elkhart County.

Elkhart sheriff’s officials said deputies were called shortly before 3:30 a.m. Monday to a location where Allen Burch Jr., 49, was attempting to turn onto County Road 12 but had stopped after noticing a load he was hauling was unsecured.

Deputies said a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old St. Joseph County, Ind. resident, was heading east on County Road 12 and struck his trailer with the front end of her SUV.

The vehicle of a second motorist, a 64-year-old man also from St. Joseph County, Ind., struck the trailer, as well.

Burch was ticketed for not having his load securely fastened.
