Matthew Mock, 46

Matthew S. Mock, age 46, of Chicago, and a former resident of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at his home due to natural causes.

He was born September 10, 1975 in Elkhart, son of Stephen and Jean (Smith) Mock.

Matthew was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1993. He furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma and earned his Law Degree at the University of Michigan Law School and was practicing Law in Chicago.

Matthew’s humanitarian nature and concern for others will be forever missed by his many friends and family. His laugh and wit made it impossible not to like him.

He is survived by his parents: Stephen and Jean Mock of Sturgis; brother: Donald Church of McComb, Mississippi; aunts: Evelyn Rogers of Lowell and RuthAnn Cross of Woodland, Alabama; uncle: Stanley Mock of Palatka, Florida and many cousins.

In accordance with family wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Matthew S. Mock will be held at a later date to be announced.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is assisting the family with local arrangements.
