Don Patterson, 92

Donald Duane Patterson, age 92, of Burr Oak, passed away Tuesday evening February 1, 2022 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital in Coldwater.
He was born June 29, 1929 in Battle Creek, son of the late Ira Washington and Helena C. (Stallman) Patterson.
Don resided in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area most of his life and when he was very young he lived in Girard.
On June 23, 1951 he married Margaret Hawkins in Angola.
On May 6, 1963 he began his career at Olson Bodies in Sturgis, now known as Morgan Olson, retiring on his 62nd birthday, June 29, 1991. Prior to joining Olson Bodies he had been employed by the Wade Electric Company and the Sturgis Foundry.
Don was a member of the Christian Fellowship Center in Sturgis. He enjoyed driving his golf cart and tractor, camping and seemed to be always tinkering with a project or two around the house. Don’s greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 70 years: Margaret; one daughter: Vicki (David Michaels) Patterson of Maryville, Tennessee; two sons: Donald R. (Rolanda) Patterson of Evening Shade, Arkansas and Mike (Cathy) Patterson of Sturgis; six grandchildren: Nicholas (Ashley) Patterson, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Rhodes, Cassandra (Mac) Oglesbee, Cory (Angie) Patterson, Angela Marie (Gregg) Stevens and Pamela Rae (Eric) Miller; 10 great grandchildren; one sister: Nannette Alpha; two brothers: John (Bette) Patterson and Gerald (Nora) Patterson; sister-in-law: Barbara Patterson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers, in-laws and brother-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Donald Duane Patterson will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday. The Rev. Travis Kuman of the Christian Fellowship Center will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
