Roger Swartz, 78

Roger Lee Swartz, age 78, of Marcellus, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022.Roger, son of Homer K. Swartz and Maxine Lucille Kahler, was born July 25, 1943 in Three Rivers.
He graduated from Marcellus High School in 1961. He worked at several different companies throughout his life including Continental Can, Peterson Springs, and Welch’s, but Roger was a farmer first and foremost, raising cattle, pigs, sheep, crops, and a few horses. He was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army as an MP from January 1965 to December 1966.
Roger married Sharla Mae Beadle on December 9, 1967. Roger loved his kids and grandkids and attended all their sporting events and 4-H animal shows at the fair.
Roger is survived by his daughter Tina (Bob) Daugherty; sons Darryl Swartz and Richard (Robin) Swartz; grandchildren Dylan (Andrea) Swartz, Nathan (Beth) Swartz, Rebecca Swartz, Samantha Daugherty, Seth Daugherty, and Allison Daugherty all of Marcellus. Sisters Bernadeen Bowlby, Beatrice Rowe, Bonnie Summers, Beth (Gus) Harrell; brothers Wayne Swartz and Keith Swartz.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharla Swartz; parents Homer and Maxine Swartz; sisters Barbara Stephayn, Beverly Clark, and brother Carroll Swartz.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, 52780 M-40 North, Marcellus. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Wiggins. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Centricare Navigators (Hospice) of Kalamazoo.
