David C. Thompson, of Zellwood, Florida, passed away on March 5, 2022 at home at the age of 79. Dave was born on September 1, 1942, in Mishawaka, the son of Earl and Virginia (Sellers) Thompson. He was raised in Schoolcraft by his grandparents Basil and Bessie (Roberts) Thompson after the death of his father in 1949.
He left Schoolcraft High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Navy (1960-65) as a Radioman Second Class aboard Fleet Tankers in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean and was medically retired in 1965. He went to work in the computer center at the First Penn Bank and Trust in Philadelphia and then worked for the Upjohn Company in the computer center for 30 years retiring in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, wood carving, wood working, gourd art, bird watching and many other activities.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, brother Butch and son Dennis. He is survived by his wife Ginny, stepchildren Matt, Travis and Derk Hutchens; grandchildren Matt and Allie Manewal and sister Judy (Carl) Julien.
In keeping with his wish’s cremation has taken place, Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778 in memory of Dave.
