Glen Oaks receives equipment grant

Glen Oaks Community College is the recipient of a $15,000 Michigan Economic Development Corp. Training Center Equipment grant.

The funds will be used to purchase supplies for the new welding technologies lab. College representatives were notified of the grant in early March.

Alyse Bannister, welding instructor, said the grant was a surprise. It will allow the college to purchase much-needed tooling and more-durable products that will not only last longer, but provide a safer grade of product for student use, Bannister said.

The Michigan Workforce Training Center Equipment Grant Program supports the equipment needs of qualified training providers that provide workforce training for qualified employers and individuals in Michigan.
