Janet Eilene Bolden, age 77, of Sturgis, passed away early Thursday morning, March 3, 2022 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor.
She was born July 14, 1944 in Paw Paw, daughter of the late Marion Jerome and Elda Mae (Owen) Kimble.
Janet resided in Sturgis since 1956, coming from Lawton.
On February 14, 1974 she married Harold Bolden in Battle Creek.
Janet had been employed by the U.S. Postal service and was the first female postal carrier in the city of Battle Creek. For several years she and Harold worked as a team as over the road cross country truck drivers and she had also drove school bus for Head Start in Sturgis and Three Rivers.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where she had taught Sunday school and volunteered her time with vacation Bible school and church camp. Janet was also active in Boy Scouts serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 402 for six years and spending time with her scouts at Camp Rota-Kiwan in Kalamazoo and she enjoyed gardening and counted cross stitch.
Janet is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 48 years: Harold; son: Jerome (Kelli Gould) Bolden of Howe, Indiana; grandchildren: Samuel Jay, Dominic Allen and Ashley Eilene; brother-in-law: Russell Nichols of Sturgis and nieces: Marilou Kimble Cleveland of Sturgis and Valerie Bernham of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Wayne Kimble and Lawrence Kimble and sister: Marilyn Nichols.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
