Mick Reed, 68

Miles R. “Mick” Reed, age 68, of Kalamazoo, died on Monday, March 7, 2022 at his home following an extended illness. He was born July 16, 1953 in Sturgis, a son of James and Lena (Yoder) Reed. Mick graduated from Centreville High School in 1971 and then from Glen Oaks Community College. He then attended Western Michigan University for 2 years.

On June 5, 2010, Mick married Amy Schwartz in Portage. He retired as Project Manager for Taplin Holdings, Kalamazoo, in 2018. Mick previously owned and operated CGA Construction and Omni Electronics, Reed Farms, and was a pilot for Air Elite. Mick and Amy attend Firm Foundation Ministries, Kalamazoo.

Mick enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and cooking, especially grilling and smoking meats. He played guitar with the worship team at church. Mick cherished his family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Amy Reed, Kalamazoo;  children Paul Reed, New Carlisle, IN,  T.J. (Melanie) Reed, Centreville,  Lindsay (Tony) Lenhart, St. John, IN,  Erin (Adam) Minger, Mattawan,  Katie (Ronnie) Eldridge, Burr Oak,  Kurtis (Alecia) Schwartz, Sturgis,  and Johnny (Melissa) Schwartz, Sturgis; grandchildren Rachael, Lena, Pete, Lisa, Tina, Marleigh, Hazel, Abby, Owen, Kenzie, Alexander, Lukas, Sophia, and Judah; great grandchildren Nevaeh and Payton; brother Tom (Sally) Reed, Constantine; sisters Barb (Virgil) Wittenberg, Constantine, and Lynelle Peterson, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his children’s mother Marsha (Liggett) Reed, brothers James Reed and Timothy Reed, and grandson Layne Schwartz.

Relatives and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 7 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Religious services will be held Saturday at 11 AM at Fish Lake Bible Church, 25108 Banker St., Sturgis, MI with Pastor Clint Zehr and Pastor Blake Davis officiating.

Interment will be in Calhoun Cemetery, Constantine. A lunch will be held at Fish Lake Bible Church following interment.
