Road commission honors past employees

The St. Joseph County Road Commission recently honored three past employees for their commitment to the agency.

During its March 2 meeting, the road commission board recognized former board clerk Cheryl Arver, former managing director Chris Minger and former assistant engineer Michael Elliott. They were feted with the agency’s “Recognition Award,” which includes a certificate and the inclusion of their names on a frame of honor in the department’s conference room.

Arver retired from the commission following a career of nearly 40 years. Minger was a 44-year employee and retired in 2018. Elliot, meanwhile, spent 39 years with the commission. All three worked under agency icon, the late Bruce Jones.

The three recipients are the second group of honorees, as the Recognition Award program was started in 2021.
