Two men injured in Park Township crash

Two Sturgis men were injured in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Park Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies were called at 6 a.m. Saturday to an area of Silver Street, south of Michigan Avenue.

A vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man went off the west side of the roadway and struck several trees.

He suffered minor injuries. A 20-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and required hospitalization as a result.

It appeared seatbelts were worn, and neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors. Investigators, however, noted speed did appear to be a factor.

The driver was cited for driving without due care.
