County commission seeks resident input on Rescue Plan funding

St. Joseph County residents are being asked to weigh in on how the county commission should allocate federal funding it received in 2021.

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners has agreed to allocate $1 million of its American Rescue Plan Act funds to support community projects. The one-time funding is being provided by the federal government to address health and economic impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.

An online survey was created to understand priorities of county residents and business owners for allocating the funds. The information gathered will inform development of an application process for local governments and nonprofits seeking funding support.

The survey, available until May 20, can be found on the county’s website: stjosephcountymi.org/survey.
