Jimmy Max “Kid” Griffith, age 65, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday evening, April 26, 2022 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He was born June 5, 1956 in Sturgis, son of the late Dale and Phyllis (Large) Griffith.
Jimmy was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1975. Following graduation he attended the Denver Automotive and Diesel School.
He had been employed as a supervisor by Morgan Olson in Sturgis for 29 years.
Jimmy was a member of the Eagles Lodge #1314. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf and corn hole.
He is survived by his significant other: Cheryl Connelly; his children: Sarah Griffith of Chicago, Tyler Griffith of Anchorage, Alaska and Austin Griffith of Coldwater; step-daughter: Crystal (Brad) Fehrmann of Wisconsin; grandchildren: Mateo, Chloe and Jamie; step-grandchild: Brooklyn; one sister: Susan (Richard) Persing of Sturgis; three brothers: Danny (Denise) Griffith of Monroe, Randy (Gina) Griffith of Dallas, Texas and Terry Griffith of Chicago, Illinois; stepmother: Carol Griffith of Sturgis; step-sister: Patricia (James) Langanis of Oakwood Hills, Illinois and nieces and nephews: Eva, Ellie, Scott, Jeremy, Rich, Nicole, Cooper and Kobi.
In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy’s body was gifted to Michigan State University.
A gathering of family and friends to share a meal and celebrate and honor the life of Jimmy Max “Kid” Griffith will begin at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, May 29th at Eagles Lodge #1314.
