Centreville schools hires new employees

Five employees, including three currently employed by Vicksburg Community Schools, were hired by Centreville Board of Education Monday.

Dennis Kirby will return to the district after serving the past six years as Vicksburg Middle School assistant principal. He will be Centreville’s elementary school principal.

Shannon Reed, who has spent the past two years as Vicksburg’s Title 1 teacher, returns to Centreville in the same capacity. In addition, Dawn Phelps was hired as a sixth-grade teacher. She comes to Centreville from Sunset Elementary in Vicksburg.

Also, Ann Beaver was hired to teach high school science. She comes from Johannesburg-Lewiston High School.

Finally, Matthew Blue will serve as maintenance/custodial supervisor. He comes to Centreville following a seven-year career at Three Rivers Community Schools.

In other news, Spanish teacher Shannon Barsy and transportation supervisor Ceairra Green submitted their letters of resignation. Meanwhile, maintenance supervisor Herb Pearrow and 41-year custodian Randy Hemenway are retiring.
