County unemployment rate down

March’s unemployment rate in St. Joseph County decreased by four-tenths of a percent from February.

The monthly labor-market analysis by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget was released recently. It showed St. Joseph County’s unemployment rate fell from 3.9 percent in February to 3.5 percent in March.

The rate was 5.5 percent 12 months earlier.

Meanwhile, Cass County experienced a drop in its unemployment figures from February to March. Its March rate was 4.4 percent and lowered to 3.8 percent a month later.

Also, Branch County’s one-month unemployment rate fell in March from the previous month. It was 4.4 percent in February and dropped to 3.7 percent in March.

Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 4.4 percent, down from 4.7 percent in February.
