Several students in the St. Joseph County Career & Technical Education Construction Trades-Residential Building program recently took first place in the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society Residential Construction competition.
The students worked together to formulate a plan from prints that they were given, determined job responsibilities and proceeded to build a structure in one day.
The structure this year was a 4-by-4-foot playhouse, and included floor and wall layout/framing/sheathing, routing out window and door openings, rafter calculations/layout/assembly, and door/window trim.
Each student received a first-place wooden plaque, a Milwaukee drill/impact driver combo tool set, a handheld router, and a pair of DeWalt angle cutters.
