Richard R. “Dick” Plock, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Monday afternoon, May 23, 2022 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born February 7, 1938 in Flint, son of the late Theodore “Ted” and Mary Jane (Derck) Plock.
The Plock family moved to Sturgis when Dick was just a child and he graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1956. Following his graduation he served four years in the U.S. Navy.
In 1960 he married Sally LaFreniere in Yarmouth, Maine. Also in 1960 Dick earned a degree in Auto Dealer Management from the General Motors Institute.
Dick was a Life Member of B.P.O.Elks #1381 where he served as an officer and board member. He also served as a board member of the Moorings Boat Condo Association in New Buffalo and as a board member of the New Buffalo Yacht Club and he was a former member of the Sturgis Lions Club.
After owning and operating several businesses, Dick retired in 1995 from the Beebe Cabinet Manufacturing Company in South Bend.
Following his retirement he and Sally spent 20 years in Fort Myers Beach, Florida enjoying fishing and pleasure boating.
He is survived by his wife: Sally; sons: Michael (Jodi) Plock and Jeffrey Plock; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where an Elks memorial will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 P.M. Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1381 will conduct the memorial service.
