Melodye Carol Ammer, age 73, of Sturgis, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 23, 1948 in a suburb of Detroit, a daughter to the late Sam R. and Ivanel (Wilkerson) Miller.
Melodye graduated from Southfield Michigan High School with the class of 1967 and attended Virginia Farrell Beauty School also in Southfield.
On Nov. 24, 1973 in Royal Oak, she married Steven Ammer. Steven was in the military and so they moved to Berlin, Germany for one year and then back to Sturgis, where they have lived since 1974.
Melodye was a homemaker and a past Boy Scout Leader and member of the St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association. She also enjoyed reading, watching TV, and Plastic Canvas Needlework.
Surviving are her husband: Steven; children: Scott Ammer and Shannon Lindsey both of Sturgis; two grandchildren: Vayda and Ethan Lindsey; one brother: James Miller of Hazel Park, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Dorothy Meldrum.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at a later date to be announced and she will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
Memorial donations may be directed to the American Kidney Fund or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis, who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
