New ambulances and fire truck licensed in Sturgis

Two new ambulances and a fire truck were the focus of a tour given to city officials last week.

Sturgis Director of Public Safety Ryan Banaszak showed off and demonstrated the features of both 2022 ambulances, as well as a refurbished 2005 Deep South tanker fire truck.

The ambulances, which sit on a Ford E350 chassis, are imprinted with the Sturgis emergency services name.

Its contract with LifeCare Ambulance expired earlier this week.

The units received by Sturgis were fully licensed for use as of Wednesday. The ambulances include state-of-the-art equipment and have ability to securely live-feed patient status to the hospital of destination to better prepare medical personnel.

The two ambulances were purchased for nearly $600,000 and the truck for more than $140,000.
