Congressman Fred Upton is the 2022 Liberty Bell recipient.
Issued annually since 1985 by the St. Joseph County Bar Association, the Liberty Bell Award is presented to a non-lawyer, individual or organization within the St. Joseph County community.
The recipient is acknowledged for making an outstanding contribution to the community by promoting a better understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights; encouraging a greater respect for law and the courts; stimulating a deeper sense of individual responsibility so that citizens recognize their duties as well as their rights; and contributing to the effective functioning of private and governmental institutions.
St. Joseph Bar Association selected Upton for his many years of service to the citizens of the 6th Congressional District. Upton last month announced that he would not be running for reelection.
There will be a formal presentation of the Liberty Bell Award by the St. Joseph County Bar Association at 9 a.m. May 25 in Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman’s Courtroom.
And for his dedication to the Constitution he was told to retire so a Trump minion could take his spot. You should have voted guilty the first time, Fred.
