Charles Roger Shingledecker, age 84, of Marcellus, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Bronson Commons.
He was born October 28, 1937 in Three Rivers, the son of Harold and Florence (Birch) Shingledecker, and graduated from Marcellus High School with the Class of 1955.
On October 26, 1957, Charles married Sharron Tuesley, and the couple shared 64 years together. They loved to travel. They especially loved to vacation in upper Michigan where they enjoyed sitting at the St. Mary’s River watching the boats come in and out, color touring, seeing the sites or just relaxing. Their retirement trip included an exploration of the West visiting many places.
He was a dedicated employee at Weyerhaeuser for more than 30 years. He held positions there that included truck driver, fork lift operator and many others.
He loved to garden, fish, hunt, visit car shows and to travel to the Soo Locks. In his younger days, he spent many springs in the Mesick woods mushrooming.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharron Shingledecker; sons, Paul (Diana) Shingledecker and Matthew (Sheri) Shingledecker; daughter, Rebecca Shingledecker; grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Shingledecker, Brandon and Kayla Clark; Jake, Andrew and Huntter Shingledecker; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda (Ken) Foust.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence; one son, Mark Shingledecker and one brother, Wilbur Shingledecker.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Paul Shingledecker officiating.
