Graber Industries destroyed by fire

A longtime business in Constantine Township was destroyed by fire last week.

Graber Industries, an RV supply retailer in the 19000 block of Fairchild Road, caught fire around 10 a.m. Friday morning. Smoke from the blaze could be seen from as far away as Colon, Bronson and Middlebury.

Multiple buildings were destroyed, though fire departments kept the blaze secured as much as possible so it would not spread any further throughout the afternoon. The fire, which started in a barn loaded with lumber, was brought under control after a two-hour battle, authorities said.

Eleven fire agencies, including every department in St. Joseph County, responded.

According to the Graber Industries Facebook page, three buildings on the property were completely destroyed.

The company was founded in the 1950s.
