Investment will support Vicksburg business development

The Economic Development Administration announced Wednesday the U.S. Department of Commerce is investing $3.7 million in American Rescue Funds to support business development in Vicksburg.

The project will help create and retain jobs by supporting the development of two commercial lots in Vicksburg’s industrial business park and a 100-acre industrial-zoned lot, in addition to the redevelopment of a former paper mill facility.

The EDA investment will be matched with $6.9 million in local funds and is expected to create 200 jobs, retain 150 jobs and generate $100 million in private investment, according to estimates.

A portion of the funds will be used to upgrade Vicksburg’s wastewater treatment system, as well.
