Mike Gifford, 75

Michael Douglas Gifford, age 75, of Mendon, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 8, 2022 in the presence of his family. He was born in Vicksburg on Aug. 12, 1946 the son of the late Claude and Maxine (Hart) Gifford. He graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1964 before joining the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and Viet Nam. Mike was married to Pamala Gay Bartholomew in Kalamazoo on March 23, 1969. Mike worked for Fred Heimstra’s Gas Station, at Simpson Lee Paper Company, for General Motors, and later as a self- employed contractor. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed working on classic cars.

Mike is survived by his wife, Pam; son, Michael (Natalie) Gifford; daughter, Amy Gifford; grandchildren, Tom (Rachelle) Gifford and Greg (Abby) Gifford; great-grandson, Nash Gifford; brother, David (Mary Ann) Gifford; in-laws, Bob and Jan Stroud and Kent Bartholomew; and special friends, Skip Abel and Terry Derhammer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 12 noon on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the West Mendon Community Church followed by a 2 pm military interment at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
