Victor Galinis, Jr., 73

Victor Joseph Galinis, Jr., age 73, of Danville, Illinois and a former resident of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 3, 2022 at his home.
He was born October 4, 1948 in Coldwater, son of Victor Joseph and Catherine Irene (Inde) Galinis.
Victor was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1967. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force October 9, 1967 and was honorably discharged April 8, 1972 serving one year, seven months and two days in Vietnam. At the time of his discharge he held the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his discharge, he moved to Louisiana to become a deep sea diver and worked on oil rigs until his retirement.
He was a member of Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW.
Victor is survived by two sons: Rayan Galinis Liperl and Damon Galinis Liperl both of Louisiana; five grandchildren; mother: Catherine I. (Inde) Galinis of Sturgis; one sister: Kathy (Wesman) Pierson of Sturgis; three brothers: Daniel (Diana) Galinis of Port Huron, David (Deborah) Galinis of Scott, Indiana and Dennis (Kimberly) Galinis of LaGrange,  and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, July 9th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where a memorial service celebrating the life of Victor J. Galinis, Jr. will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 P.M.  A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 V.F.W. and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
