Danny Sanderson, 52

Danny Lee Sanderson, age 52, died on July 25, 2022.  He was born in Battle Creek on April 1, 1970 the son of Frederick M. and M. Jane (Davenport) Sanderson.  He graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1989. He earned his Associate’s Degree from Glen Oaks community College and his Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University.  Danny was a newspaper journalist, first working as a free lance reporter for the Kalamazoo Gazette and later for the Three Rivers Commercial-News.  He also worked for the Advance newspaper in Grand Rapids and the Traverse City Record Eagle.  For the past 18 years he has been a reporter for the Crawford County Avalanche in Grayling.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching NASCAR races in his spare time.

Danny is survived by his mother, M. Jane Sanderson of Mendon; brother, Douglas (Marilyn) Sanderson of Sturgis; sister, Deanna (Alan) Martin of Colon; daughter, Bennette Danielle Mansfield-Sanderson and step-son, Dakotah Mansfield both of Dickinson, ND. Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Fred and a brother, David Sanderson.

Cremation has been conducted.  The family will receive friends from 11 am until 12 noon on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Crossroads Missionary Church, 22605 M-60, Mendon, MI 49072.  Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the church with Pastor Alex Brovont and Rev. Jordan Higgins officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall.
