Centreville schools approve new hires

Three positions were filled following action by the Centreville Board of Education earlier this week.

During its monthly meeting Monday, the board approved the employment of kindergarten teacher Betsy Breitenbach; elementary music teacher Lynne Weaver; and Kayla Herman, who will work at the county jail.

Superintendent Chad Brady said Weaver’s employment marks the first time in several years that each school in the district has had its own music teacher.

The board also approved lunch prices, per the request of Chartwells Food Services Director Marilyn Rosewarne. Elementary full-price lunch is $2.65, junior/senior high lunch will be $2.95. Adult prices are $4.85 for lunch.

Breakfast is free for all students.

Also Monday, the board approved revisions to the junior/senior high handbook. Meanwhile, Brady led discussion focusing on the continuing development of the district’s strategic plan.
