Manuel Rodriguez, Jr., 73

Manuel De Jesus Rodriguez, Jr.,  age 73,  of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2022 at his home.
He was born January 14, 1949 in Mission, Texas son of the late Manuel and Rosalia (Gonzalez) Rodriguez.
Manuel resided in Sturgis for the past 50 years coming from Mission, Texas.
On February 20, 1971 he married Maria E. Trevino in Mission.
Manuel was a truck driver for 30 years.
He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the rank of SP4. He was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215 and enjoyed tinkering in his basement and garage.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 51 years: Maria; two sons: Ricky Rodriguez of Oregon and Manuel “Tony” (Betsy) Rodriguez of Sturgis; three grandchildren: Austin, Larissa and Jessie; three great grandchildren: Dakota, Caston and Logan; sister: Soila Brown of Battle Creek and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Rosa Sharla.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Manuel De Jesus Rodriguez will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Aug. 12th at the Radiant Life Church in Sturgis. A committal of the remains will take place at 2:00 P.M. Friday, Aug. 12th at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Full military honors will be conferred by the Fort Custer Honor Guard and U.S. Army Honor Guard.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
