Two injured in Constantine Township crash

A California woman and her passenger were injured last week as the result of a single-vehicle crash in Constantine Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies were called shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday to an area on North River Road near Winding River Road.

The 23-year-old female driver, a woman from San Jose, and her 25-year-old passenger, a Grand Rapids resident, were in a car heading east on North River Road, where it ran off the roadway to the right and over-corrected, causing the vehicle to lose control.

It slid sideways across the road and hit a tree on the passenger’s side.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Bronson Hospital by Three Rivers Ambulance. The passenger sustained major traumatic injuries and was airlifted to Bronson Hospital. She was listed in critical condition.

Both subjects were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, Lillywhite said.
