Centreville Public Schools is moving forward with a plan to consider installation of HVAC systems at its elementary and jr./sr. high buildings.
Board of education members Monday authorized architect/engineer firm TowerPinkster to proceed with plans centering on a scope of work.
Board president Jeff Troyer said TowerPinkster has blueprints of both buildings and will proceed with developing plans. Eventually, it will provide specific details related to cost and amount of work required to fully air condition both schools.
Troyer said preliminary estimates show it will cost more than $1.5 million to:
Prepare and install building-wide air conditioning at the elementary school.
Install air conditioning in the high school gymnasium.
Replace old systems to unit ventilators in preparation for air conditioning at the jr./sr. high.
Troyer said between Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds, and some leftover bond money, the district will most likely not have to borrow to cover the cost.
