Height restrictor damage causes Covered Bridge closure

The Langley Covered Bridge will be closed at least until next week after a horse trailer knocked down a height restrictor Monday evening.

St. Joseph County Road Commission Manager John Lindsey said the restrictor at the north end of the county icon toppled following the collision.

Lindsey said the driver of the southbound vehicle responsible for the incident will be billed after work to replace the height restrictor is completed.

Covered Bridge Road motorists are advised to take Angevine Road as an alternative in order to cross the St. Joseph River, Lindsey said.
