James Clyde Carpenter, age 68, of Three Rivers, died on July 31, 2022 at the Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan. James was born in Three Rivers on Jan. 4, 1954 one of twelve children born to Lester and Martha (Osborn) Carpenter. He graduated from Three Rivers High School before joining the United States Army where he served in Germany during peacetime. After four years of active service, he continued to serve in the Michigan National Guard. Jim worked for many years at Crocker Limited in Three Rivers, and then for Exos in Howe, Indiana before retiring with complications from Diabetes. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and video gaming. Mostly he enjoyed going out to breakfast or lunch with his brothers Dale and Jack.
Jim is survived by four brothers, John Carpenter of Centreville, Dale (Sheri) Carpenter of Mendon, Jack (Roxie) Carpenter and Douglas Carpenter both of Three Rivers; three sisters, Mary Johnson of South Bend, June Snyder and Patsy Carpenter both of Three Rivers; sisters-in-law, Betty Carpenter and Thelma Carpenter of Three Rivers; sixteen nephews; eleven nieces; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his fiancé, Tammy Losik; brothers, Kenneth, Robert, and Dennis Carpenter; sister, May Cron; brothers-in-law Leroy Johnson and Harold Snyder, Jr.; sister-in-law Patricia Carpenter; nephews Dennis Carpenter, Jr. and Clinton Carpenter; nieces Nancy and Candy Carpenter; and great-niece Haylee Lewis.
A military graveside service for James Carpenter and his fiancé, Tammy Losik will be at 1 pm Friday, Sep. 16, 2022 at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers. Following the graveside service a celebration of their lives will be at the Three Rivers Eagles Lodge. Professional assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon.
