Medical emergency causes crash

A medical condition has been determined as the cause of a two-vehicle crash last week in Cass County’s Porter Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said deputies were called shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday to Union Road, south of U.S. 12.

Authorities said a van driven by Crystal Price, 45, of Kendallville, Ind., was traveling west on Union Road, where she had a medical emergency, causing her vehicle to run off the roadway.

The vehicle eventually collided into a box truck driven by Kwabena Marfo, 56, of Kalamazoo.

Price and her two passengers Annamae Davis, 25, and Denise McCall, 46, were extricated from their vehicle.

Price was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital, Davis and McCall were transported to Elkhart General Hospital.
