Two road projects begin

Two road-related projects started Tuesday in St. Joseph County.

The bigger task involves a seven-mile stretch of roadway in Leonidas Township. MDOT officials said the work centers on M-60, which will be re-repaved from the junction of M-66 east to Hacker Road, at the Branch County line.

Meanwhile, the other project involves a one-mile section of U.S. 12 from Fairview Drive to Grass Lake Lane in White Pigeon Township. Fairview is just west of the Fawn River bridge, while Grass Lake Lane is closer to Klinger Lake.

Work includes hot-mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, sidewalk ramp and traffic-recorder replacement, and new pavement markings.

Combined, the two projects will cost about $2.2 million.

Motorists should expect lane closures and traffic regulators. Agency officials expect a completion date of Nov. 18.
