Rhonda Jean (Nielsen) Parker, age 60, of Sturgis, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born August 7, 1962 in Las Vegas, daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Geraldine A. (Johnson) Nielsen.
Rhonda resided in Sturgis since 1974 coming from Las Vegas.
On November 3, 2000 she married Michael Parker in Centreville.
Rhonda was currently employed as a Human Resource Specialist at IAC in Mendon. Prior to joining IAC she had been employed as a secretary in sales at Continental Accessories until the closing of the company and from 1978 to 1996 she had worked at McDonalds in Sturgis. At the time of leaving McDonalds she held the position of first assistant manager.
She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis and B.P.O. Elks #1381. Rhonda enjoyed lake life and evening pontoon rides around the lake. She had a love for animals especially dogs, cats, elephants and kissing pigs. She also enjoyed writing and drawing. Rhonda had hobbies and interests but what she truly loved was time spent with her family especially her granddaughter: Zoey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 22 years: Mike; her sons: Eric (Caitlin Storch) Parker of Grand Rapids, Floyd Parker of Kalamazoo and Adam Parker of Lawrence; granddaughter: Zoey Parker of Lawrence; sister: Linda (Eric) Carr of Sturgis; nephew: Andrew Carr of Sturgis; step-sisters: Donna (Albert) Miller, Kathy Draime, Charlotte Brookman and Carolyn (Bill) Key; step-brothers: Norman Merkle, Donald Merkle and Isaiah Merkle; bestest friend: Julie (Mark) Meek of Sturgis; father and mother-in-law: Mike and Mary Parker of White Pigeon; sister and brother-in-law: Heidi (Gabe) Macias; nephews: Max, Manny and Miles; nieces: Nikki Charter, Sami Lesniak and Brittany Scheetz; aunt: Joyce Young; special cousins: Alan (Penny) Young and family, Raelene Young; her dog Pollee and cat Abby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, Oct. 10th at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Rhonda Parker will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Oct. 11th at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Darin Warnecke will officiate. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow the services.
