Centreville man sentenced in assault case

A 25-year-old Centreville-area man will serve 60 days in jail and two years of probation for shooting at three former roommates outside the Sherman Township home they shared.

Circuit Judge Paul Stutesman earlier this week stressed the severity of the charges levied against Conner Rooks.

Kyle Lowery, Alexis Kelley and Wendi Levitz went to the Shimmel Road residence June 17 to discuss household possessions, when an argument erupted. Rooks told the court he got out a rifle, and the three roommates fled in their car as Rooks fired a shot.

Rooks, who now lives in Cass County, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.

If Rooks does not comply with probation, he could be imprisoned for four years.
