County to promote local water tourism

St. Joseph County officials are expected to jumpstart a tourism-related webpage focusing heavily on local rivers and lakes.

During the board’s executive committee meeting Tuesday, county administrator Teresa Doehring suggested restoring a version of the campaign “St. Joe H2O.”

Doehring said the goal is to regroup and figure out how to resume promoting the county’s numerous lakes and 150 miles of waterways. She said a critical component to a previous website was an interactive trip-planning tool for paddlers.

Doehring said she would like to send out the RFPs by the end of the month.
