Catherine Irene Galinis, age 91, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday morning, November 26, 2022 at Skaggs Assisted Living in Burr Oak.
She was born June 8, 1931 in Rome City, Indiana daughter of the late Edward and Olive (Lanning) Inde.
Catherine resided in Sturgis since 1963 coming from Coldwater. In February of 1948 she married Victor J. Galinis, Sr. in Kentucky. He died May 22, 2016.
Catherine retired from Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis where she had been employed as a nurse’s aide for many years.
She enjoyed babysitting, boating and fishing, and loved her animals especially her dogs and cats.
She is survived by one daughter: Kathy (Wesman) Pierson of Sturgis; three sons: Daniel (Diana) Galinis of Port Huron, David (Deborah) Galinis of Scott, Indiana and Dennis (Kimberly) Galinis of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; son: Victor Galinis, Jr.; granddaughter: Stacy Galinis Minor; three sisters: Virginia Calvin, Helen Daily and Sissy Inde and two brothers: Eddie Dean Inde and Peter Inde.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 Wednesday, Nov. 30th at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Catherine Galinis will be held at 10:00 Thursday morning, Dec. 1st. The Rev Doug Carr of His House Church in Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
