James Joseph Connors, age 86, of White Pigeon, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at North Woods Village Assisted Living in Kalamazoo.
He was born July 29, 1936 in Marquette, a son to the late Raymond and Emma C. (Messier) Connors.
On December 21, 1994 he married Nancy Dunn in Sturgis.
James received his Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University. He worked for a short time at Paramount Furniture in Sturgis and then taught at Bronson High School for 1 year before moving to Sturgis High School where he taught drafting and CAD for 39 ½ years.
He enjoyed snow skiing and bowling in the winter, and golfing and camping in the summer. He was a handyman who could build anything and enjoyed building fine furniture.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife Nancy; 2 daughters: Kimberly (David) Lytle of Sturgis, and Kristine (Bradd) Morse of Noblesville, IN; 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Abby) Lytle, Mary (Reid) Rains, Anny (Clayton) Wonsetler, Maxwell (Shelby) Morse and Alexander Morse; 3 great-grandchildren: Madison Lytle, Weston James Lytle, and Henry James Wonsetler; 2 step-children: Sherri (Jeff) Smith of Coldwater, and Randal (Susan) Dunn of Connecticut; 4 step-grandchildren: Cody (Jennifer) Dunn, Rita (Seth) Buchner, Kevin (Jaimie) Cottin, and Nicholas Cottin; 1 step-great-grandson: Oliver Charles Cottin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters: Joan and Maryrae.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 noon to 2:00, Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2002 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 406 S. Lakeview Ave., Sturgis.
Memorial Services celebrating the life of James Connors will take place at 2:00, immediately following visitation, on Wednesday, at the church with the Rev. Calvin J. Kolzow, officiating.
Memorial donations may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
