Man injured in Cass County crash

Speed considered too fast for weather conditions likely played a factor in a two-car crash last weekend in Cass County’s Newberg Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke said 18-year-old Alek James Dahlgren, of Cassopolis, was traveling east on M-60 at 5 p.m. Saturday when he swerved the car he was driving to miss a vehicle slowing in the roadway ahead of him.

Dahlgren’s car slid off the road and crashed into a vehicle already off the road and stuck in snow.

The passenger of the vehicle in the snow, Stephen Carroll, 73, of Lawton, was outside his vehicle when the crash occurred. Carroll was trapped between the two vehicles until emergency personnel aided him.

He was transported to Three Rivers Health.
