Peggy Jean Schuler, age 71, of Sturgis, passed away early Wednesday evening, November 23, 2022 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born November 26, 1950 in Sturgis, daughter of the late Francis and Pauline Elizabeth (Kennedy) Kane.
Peggy resided in Sturgis most of her life. Her early life was lived in Burr Oak where she was a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1969. She furthered her education at the Hillsdale School of Cosmetology and attended Glen Oaks Community College.
She was first married to the late Richard “Dick” Grabe. On August 9, 1994 she married Gregory L. Schuler in Centreville.
Peggy was a licensed practicing beautician for 43 years. She owned and operated We Got Style in Sturgis for many years. Prior to We Got Style she taught cosmetology at the Branch County Career Center in Coldwater for a number of years and she also owned and operated Hair Classics in Sturgis.
She was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
Peggy enjoyed participating in the Cardio Drumming class at the Commission on Aging, garage sales, and going to the Goodwill Stores and fishing. Peggy was always looking for ways to make someone’s life a bit better. If that was visiting a nursing, going to the nursing home to do a ladies hair, or just making a stranger smile, and she seemed to always know when someone could use a hug. Peggy truly loved and cherished times surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband: Greg; daughters: Heather (Michael) Schmeling of White Pigeon and Marlo (Tom) Bryne of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; step-children: Shelly (Frank) Misak of Kalamazoo, Becky (Dave) Songer of Lansing and Ryan Schuler of Bend, Oregon; nine grandchildren: Carson, Chance, Kyle, Morgan, Sydney, Joe, Austin, Ben and Cassidy; sister: Mary (Karl “Skip”) Littman of Sturgis; brother: David (Suzanne) Kane of The Villages, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 Wednesday, November 30th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S.
