Rosemary Klinger, 79

Rosemary Elizabeth “Mimi” Klinger, age 79, of Klinger Lake, Sturgis, passed away Thursday morning, November 3, 2022 at Thurston Woods Villa in Sturgis.

She was born September 22, 1943 in Wabash, Indiana daughter of Donald D. and Beatrice A. (Young) Klinger.

Rosemary had her home at Klinger Lake since the mid 1980’s moving full time to the lake in 2003 from Oxnard, California.

She dedicated her life to teaching young people. She taught English at Hueneme High School in Oxnard, California for over 20 years and had also coached girl’s basketball. After moving to the lake, she taught at Glen Oaks Community College.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where she was a member of the “Dining Divas”.

She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, good food, books, crossword puzzles, the theater, and the arts. Mimi’s true passion in life was teaching and giving of herself to each of her students.

Rosemary is survived by her brother: J. Philip (Nancy) Klinger of Lafayette, Indiana; nieces and nephews: Kevin Klinger, Steve Klinger, Rene Ginabreda, Bobby Klinger, David Klinger, Debbie Cheatham, Natalie Merrell, Robert Merrell, Laura Vaughn and Daniel Merrell and many great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and nephew: Don Klinger, Robert “Bud” Klinger and sister: Joy Merrell, and nephew: Geoff Klinger.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday, November 18th, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Rosemary E. “Mimi” Klinger will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 19th, at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Pleasant Ave. in Sturgis. The Rev. Sue Babb will officiate. Following a light luncheon in the church fellowship hall interment will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Mimi’s brother Rev. Dr. J. Philip Klinger will officiate at the committal service.

The family will be establishing a memorial scholarship fund in Mimi’s name and donations would be appreciated to the Go Fund Me account at https://gofund.me/2898c14f.
