Ivan Dwight Wright “Ike”, age 70, of White Pigeon, passed away at his home on Friday, December 2, 2022. He was born on February 8, 1952 in Three Rivers to John J. & A. Ione (Garwood) Wright. He grew up in Union, and graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1970 where he met the love of his life, Jacqueline (Shafer) Wright. They were married on August 8, 1970 and later moved to White Pigeon where they raised their 3 daughters; Betsy, Kelli & Scarlett. He was a hard working man who worked in concrete his whole life. At age 16, he started working for his father’s company, John Wright & Sons and continued with them until he started his own company, Ike Wright Construction in 1992.
Ike was a Christian man who loved his family more than anything else. He loved watching his grandchildren competing in various sports and could be heard cheering them on from the stands. He also enjoyed camping; watching his favorite teams (Go Blue!, da Bears & whoever Tom Brady played for), old westerns, or his favorite movie “Jeremiah Johnson”; or just hanging out in the back yard with his family. In his younger years, he liked to go sailing, playing softball and just having fun. His fun-loving personality and great sense of humor drew people in. He was a kind, generous, compassionate man who helped anyone if he was able.
Ike is survived by his wife; 3 daughters; 1 “bonus” son Nate; 7 grandchildren Sammie, Alyssa, Stone, Reece, Taylor, Megan & Jackson; 2 great-granchildren Brian & Madison; 2 brothers Owen Wright & Paul (Melody) Wright; 2 sisters Janet (Gary) Smith & Sharon (Jim) Morris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Tobin Charles; 2 brothers John F. & Walter Wright; and 1 sister Mary Slack.
There will be visitations on Tuesday, December 6th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Farrand Funeral Home, 300 N Kalamazoo St, White Pigeon. A memorial for Ike will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at 11:00 at Firm Foundation Ministries, 651 E Main St, Centreville, with a luncheon to follow.
