Ray Milliken, age 82, of Sturgis, (formerly of South Bend) passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 after a short stay at the Robin’s Nest Assisted Living Facility in Mill Creek, Indiana.
Ray was born on April 6, 1940 in South Bend to the late Albert B. Milliken and Edith R. (Dyer) McDonald. Ray owned and operated Milliken Construction and Apartments for 60 years. He also taught building trades class at the Elkhart Career Center. He was a faithful member of Lions Club, Rotary, the South Bend Country Club, and member of the St. Joseph County Republican Party. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. He spent many winters in Florida where he loved golfing, fishing, and going to flea markets.
Ray is survived by his partner Maribell Sisson, his children, Susan (Raymond) Miller of New Carlisle, John (Connie) Milliken of South Bend, Sally (Daniel) Spence of South Bend, and Jeffrey Milliken of South Bend. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Ray also leaves behind Maribell’s family Teresa Shingledecker of Sturgis, and Lana Garvelink of Boyne City, MI as well as Allen Juday of Charlevoix, MI. along with her 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Albert Milliken and Edith McDonald, his stepmother, Elinore Milliken sisters Nancy Roche and Sharon Lehman.
Services for Ray will be held at 1:00 on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West in South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 until the time of the memorial service.
