Vera Jeanette Price, age 96, of Sturgis, and a former longtime resident of Erie County passed away on December 14, 2022 at her home.
She was born July 29, 1926 in Blair County, PA daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy (Kephart) Schenk.
Mrs. Price resided in Sturgis since 2009 coming from Zephyrhills, FL where she and Wayne lived for 16 years. Most of her life was spent in Erie County.
On February 9, 1946 she married Wayne M. Price at the Wesley Methodist Church in Wesleyville, PA. He preceded her in death November 28, 2017.
She and her husband owned and operated Buffalo Road Supply in Harbor Creek, PA and Wayne Price Kitchens in Green Twp., Pa.
Mrs. Price had been a member of the Wesley Methodist Church.
She and Wayne loved square dancing and were members of several square dancing clubs in Pennsylvania and Florida. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada in their motorhome.
She is survived by two daughters: Penny (Peter) Bruce of Erie, PA and Wendy (Glenn) Russell of Sturgis; five grandchildren: Mandy, Jacob, Paula, Melanie and Jeffrey; 10 great grandchildren; one brother: David (Rose) Schenk of Erie, PA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister: Fanny Rysz and brothers: Robert, Carl and George Schenk.
Private burial will take place at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. A private family graveside service will take place in the summer.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
