Bud Jennings, 91

Bernard “Bud” R. Jennings, age 91, of Constantine, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Three Rivers Health. He was born September 24, 1931 in Constantine, a son of Vernal and Margo (Vail) Jennings. Bud graduated from Constantine High School in 1950. On April 7, 1951, he married Dorothy M. Hassinger at the Constantine Messiah Lutheran Church.

Bud served in the US Navy for 4 years. Following the Navy he joined the US Air Force, serving for 16 years until his retirement. Following his service in the Air Force, Bud worked at Simplex Industries as a production manager, was on the startup team at Owens-Illinois, and then drove truck for Key Line in South Bend, and also for Lasco in Three Rivers. Bud owned Eagle Motors in White Pigeon, and finally Fancy Threads Embroidery.

Bud enjoyed traveling the country on his motorcycle, and doing leather work. He was a classic car enthusiast. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving Bud are his wife Dorothy, sons Steven (Denise) Jennings, Tom Jennings, Shane (Laurie Longcore) Jennings, all of Constantine, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, plus one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Karl Jennings and daughter Kay Hammon.

Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 2:00 with Pastor Kathy Schuen of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Constantine Community Soup Kitchen.
