Community Foundation executive director plans to stay

The head of Sturgis Area Community Foundation has reversed an earlier decision and plans instead to remain in her current position.

Lindsay Richardson had previously announced in October her intentions to resign in order to pursue another opportunity.

Erin Melchi-Baker, chair of the foundation’s trustee board, said she is convinced that with Richardson’s continued leadership, the community foundation will see further growth and success in meeting the needs of the community.

Richardson joined the foundation as a trustee in 2017 and was hired as its executive director in January 2019. She had intended to pursue a new opportunity at the end of 2022 near where she lives in Indiana.

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation is a $30 million foundation focusing on meeting charitable needs of the community.
