Karen Gingerich, 72

Karen Sue (Lewis) Gingerich, age 72, of Three Rivers, died Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born in Three Rivers on May 20, 1950 the daughter of Allen and Beatrice (Butler) Lewis. Karen graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1968. She was married to Keith Gingerich on June 15, 1968 at the West Mendon United Methodist Church. Following their marriage, they resided briefly in Florida where she owned and operated a Mr. Donut before returning to the Three Rivers area. Karen had been employed at Cabriolet in Constantine and Dually Depot in Elkhart.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, reading, golf, and especially pontoon rides on Harwood Lake.

Karen is survived by three children, Sheri (Wallace) Davenport of Cornelius, NC, Nicole Gingerich of Wyoming, MI, and Ryan Gingerich of White Pigeon, MI; three grandchildren, Brandon Michael Shafer, Zakary Lee Shafer, and Madeline Sanderson; two great-grandchildren, Holly Elizabeth Shafer and Sadie Lee Shafer; three brothers, David (Marie) Lewis, Douglas (Linda) Lewis, and Mark (Brenda) Lewis; a sister, Linda (Randy) Foster; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Keith in 1991.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service is being planned for the Spring of 2023. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
