Man arraigned for illegal deer hunting

A Kalamazoo County man was in court last week for several violations related to illegal deer hunting.

Authorities said Scott Meisterheim, 55, of Kalamazoo, faced a pretrial on 10 counts of illegal deer hunting. He was arraigned earlier this month and is currently serving 18 months of probation for aggravated domestic assault.

Evidence collected during the investigation revealed that Meisterheim allegedly took at least 11 deer between Oct. 1 and Dec. 24, 2021.

Meisterheim is due back in court on the DNR-related offenses in February. He is charged with:

Taking white-tailed deer outside of lawful hunting hours.
Two counts of no license while hunting white-tailed deer.
Two counts of using a deer-hunting licenses of another.
Two counts of taking an overlimit of antlered, white-tailed deer.
And three counts of transporting/possessing untagged antlered white-tailed deer.
